Child Clothing Drive PhotoIt’s getting cold outside and there are refugee children resettling into our community that are in desperate need of warm winter clothing.  You can help by donating your new or gently used children’s clothing and footwear.  Coach Alex at The Soccer Learning Center is teaming up with our 501c3 organization, The U.S. Soccer Heroes, and Jersey City’s Church World Service to arrange a special clothing drive for items that will fit newborns through teenagers.

You can drop off your new, or clean, gently used children’s clothing in our special collection boxes on the following days:

  • Thursday, October 29th:  3:30pm to 11:00pm – CERC gym – 180 9th Street, Jersey City, N.J.
  • Saturday, October 31st:  9:00 am to 2:00 pm – CERC gym – 180 9th Street, Jersey City, NJ
  • Sunday, November 1st:  9:00am to 1:00pm – CERC gym – 180 9th Street, Jersey City, NJ

We are seeking any type of clothing or footwear for infants through teenagers only – with a special emphasis on cold-weather gear.  We are also seeking donations of disposable baby diapers and wipes – all sizes.  If you don’t have clothing donations and still wish to help, we will be accepting donations of gift cards (preferably Target, WalMart, CVS, Walgreens, ShopRite, or Toys/Babies R Us) to redeem for purchases of new clothing, diapers and wipes.

The great thing about this clothing drive is that ALL DONATIONS benefit local families right in our community – families that have resettled here who have left everything behind and come to America with often just the clothing on their backs.  Church World Services is doing tremendous work in Jersey City helping these individuals find a new home after leaving their war-torn communities all over the world.

Help us spread the word by posting this CWS Children’s Winter Clothing Drive Flyer in your child’s school or in your condo building – or by distributing it via email to your parent’s group.
